World of Warcraft - item upgrades Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to boost the gear score of an item to 700 and add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upgraded to increase their stats (like perfect broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons don't change much post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats, such as damage to attack, crit chance PvE and PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus that increases their damage per second. In addition there are many weapons with a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a single unit. This bonus can sometimes be greater than the damage that a weapon upgrade can do on its own.

A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance an item level upgrade with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a gun will increase until it needs an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.

Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. This is usually a good thing, but it can also have negative consequences. For items that only see use in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them could make them unusable unless you have an extremely lucky roll.

Armor items can be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms it will boost the defense of its base, while gloves and belts improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it may roll down to a lower value.

The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain upon upgrading along with the relative values of those stats. This means that the weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% difference doesn't mean that it will strike for 3 fewer times as it is an absolute number.

A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button with circling arrows in the item menu. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats but it will not reset the weapon's levels or bind it to account status.

Armor

A few armor upgrades can make a huge difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets provide massive increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which can make the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the more defense you have on your character, the greater health you'll get from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.

To upgrade your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game and to unlock them all, you have to complete an additional quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main quest and the associated fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees needed for each will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the first upgrade items, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, Item Upgrader Kit allowing you to keep pace with a good-sized group of enemies in the majority of cold conditions and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded all the way to +20 defense, giving you enough protection to withstand the full-on assault with a few of your friends.

Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll want to work on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power when you're a Mage. It is also recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you'll still wear at the end of the story, like the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you use in the final boss fight the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

You can also gain perks for your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is useful to have some upgrades to your chest armor and helmets that permit you to sneak past certain monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquid substances that, if consumed, give the player the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five types of potions with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to increase their level of effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by adding glowstone dust and redstone.

Potion upgrades cost a specific amount of XP, which can be earned by crafting them on a table or in the Alchemist's chest. The upgrade price varies depending on the type of potion and the item's rarity as well as Mark Level.

To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Then select "Upgrade" from the menu. This opens a GUI in which you can select the potions you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will produce when upgraded. Upgrading potions can be done in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP count.

Once a potion has been upgraded, it won't degrade until you use it again or break the bottle it's stored in. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking it in your inventory.

Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the way potions are used. Splash potions for instance have now a duration of 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display of the item upgrader kit (click here for info). The table of potion now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. This is the same for using a potion in the cauldron that is filled. This will drain the liquid, and then refill the bottle.

There are also simmering potions that are made using splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can also be added to potions that are lingering to increase their effects. The table of potions is organized more closely to the Java Edition, item upgrader Kit and new potions were added such as potion of leaping, decomposition potion, and turtle master potions.

Trinkets

A trinket can be described as a small and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also refer to an object or ornament that serves a function but isn't particularly significant like a tiny thimble. In some cultures, a trinket is used to express affection or friendship between family members.

Players can upgrade trinkets in addition to weapons and armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets unlike other items that can be upgraded can be traded at will without losing stats.

Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.

Upgrades are a cheaper alternative to buying a new trinket. A player can upgrade their trinket for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same level of base as the old trinket, however, it will also come with an additional 1% bonus upgrade.

Trinkets can be upgraded once they are not needed, allowing a player to increase their power and worth over time. They can be traded among players and are a viable alternative to gold.

In general, players should upgrade their most important items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondaries, and finally other items of gear will not be replaced in the near future (for example, a ring or cloak). When deciding the items to upgrade, players should also consider the preferred statistics of their class. For example when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank it is recommended that they upgrade their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and helm.

Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher ilvl after they no longer have value, and the new trinket will have an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading. However, a re-upgrade is likely to destroy the old trinket in the event that it is not salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades but still cheaper than buying new ones.
