World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before a component can be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the equipment with which it is used (for examplefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment using the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can get the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of the extent to which it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it's possible that the Best item upgrader will become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that increase or even eliminate the chance of failure, and a few upgrades that give the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.

You will often find in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes much faster.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without any restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a statistic by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the various Glyphs and there are some rare glyphs to be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

Glyphs will boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance, a Druid should try to position their Glyphs near their primary damage points, but you should also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes too.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is also known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be able to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When a player improves an item, the base item will be replaced with an item that is new. This means that the same armor piece will become an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will also have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback, as the item can increase in price even if you do not require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do so. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, but it's not something that should be performed frequently, since it can waste many resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as a dolphin). It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the max roll by a factor of 10. This item is very useful in PvP. A perfectly rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of the unupgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The upgrade of items allows players to boost the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapons will increase the damage base and the strength and dexterity required to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Every when you upgrade an item level upgrade, it has a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the farther you go beyond the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to return to its original state which means that the player has to purchase more materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item upgrader kit is not upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any gained bonuses such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or speed of reload). The player is able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a typical equipment item may have five upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.
